Draw Your (S)words

An open mic and spoken word event where first-timers are especially welcome.

Draw Your (S)words grew from a simple idea: more people deserve a platform to share pivotal stories and lived experiences.

Not just the people who are already confident. Not just the people who have been performing for years. Everyone who has something to say and wants somewhere to say it.

What to expect

A warm room. An encouraging audience. People reading poems, stories, rants, observations and things they’ve never shown anyone before.

You can perform. You can listen. You can decide on the night.

No experience required. No particular style required. Just bring something — or come and see what it’s like first.

Where and when

Draw Your (S)words events are held on Kaurna Yarta (Adelaide, South Australia).

First time?

Most people who perform at Draw Your (S)words said they would never perform at Draw Your (S)words.

The room is kind. The bar is low in the best possible way. And you don’t have to sign up to perform until you’re ready.
