DYS is incredibly excited to announce that our next open mic poetry night is heading to a stunning new home: on Kaurna Yarta.

Known for its immersive atmosphere and creative energy, The Light Room is the perfect backdrop for a night of storytelling, vulnerability, and connection. Whether you are a seasoned performer or a first-time listener, come and experience our community in this beautiful, fresh space.

The Line-up
We are honoured to be joined by two incredible features to help us settle into our new venue.

Feature Poet: The incredible TJ.
TJ is a queer trans poet whose poetry is a conversational expression of the world around him.

Feature Musician: The soulful sounds of Sturt Avenue.

This is not our usual run-of-the-mill event—before we kick off the open mic night we are offering a handful the opportunity to attend a writers workshop, designed to help you craft a brand-new piece in a low-pressure, supportive environment.
Want to sharpen your pen before the show? We are offering an exclusive Poetry Workshop on the afternoon of the event. 

Your workshop ticket includes free entry to the open mic night and a guaranteed spot on the open mic list should you want to perform your new work.
Bear in mind places are strictly limited to keep it intimate.

Workshop:  For those who would like to join the poetry workshop before hand please arrive to start writing at 4pm.
